Towards sustainable and integrated redevelopment: residential construction at the center of the Workshop organized by Habitech and Housing Europe

Rovereto, May 15, 2024

On May 21, 2024, starting at 4:00 PM, the workshop “One-Stop-Shop for integrated renovation solutions & technologies: engagement workshop for building owners and suppliers” will be held at the “Le Gallerie” museum in Piedicastello, Trento, organized by Habitech and Housing Europe. Aimed at promoting a systemic approach to sustainability in construction, the workshop will explore innovative solutions for the renovation of the residential sector. Open to a wide range of participants, from homeowners to condominium administrators, from construction professionals to social housing entities, the workshop will provide an overview of some of the most discussed housing redevelopment approaches at the national and European levels. Topics will include the decarbonization of residential buildings through the installation of prefabricated solutions and the so-called One Stop Shop approach, an organizational model capable of coordinating and facilitating renovation interventions, even on a large scale, by bridging the gap between supply and demand. At the end of the event, there will be a networking cocktail including an exhibition of technologies and services for circular and sustainable renovation, with information desks managed by local companies. Participants and interested parties can thus engage with experts and get information on the most recent developments in the market.

The event is organized as part of the European ARV project, funded by the Horizon 2020 program, participated both by Habitech and Housing Europe as beneficiaries. ARV aims to create Climate Positive Circular Communities in Europe and accelerate the building renovation rate across the continent. The Italian case study is located in Trento and includes a large area in the Piedicastello district and a recently renovated residential building in the Povo district. Therefore, the workshop will also highlight the “Renew Wall” wood prefab-kit developed by the local manufacturer Fanti Legnami, applied for the first time on a real building in the ARV case study in Povo.

In detail, the workshop program will open with institutional greetings from the Municipality of Trento, featuring Monica Baggia, Councillor for Urban Planning and Economic Development, and Ezio Facchin, External Councillor for Mobility and Urban Regeneration. The event will be moderated by Abderrahim Khairi, Membership and Events Coordinator of Housing Europe.

The first presentation, titled “Accelerating Building Renovation through Climate Positive Circular Communities: the ARV Case Study in Povo,” will be given by Marcello Curci, Head of Funded Projects Area at Habitech, and Gabriele Zini, Coordinator of the “Renew Wall” Architecture Area on behalf of Fanti Legnami. Andoni Hidalgo, Representative of the OPENGELA-BIRTUOSS project, will present a One-Stop-Shop model tested in the Basque Country (Spain). This will be followed by a presentation on energy renovation goals in the Province of Trento for the residential sector by Sara Verones, Director of the Studies and Planning Office for Energy Resources at the Provincial Agency APRIE. A final roundtable entitled “The Potential of Circular Renovation at the District Scale in Social, Private, and Cooperative Housing” will feature Andrea Basso – President of ANCE Trento, Marco Corradi – President of ACER Reggio Emilia, Marco Giglioli – President of Habitech, and Andrea Rinaldi – Director of CoopCasa Trento (Federazione Trentina della Cooperazione).
